Atlanta Restaurants: Tal Baum opens another restaurant in the City of Ponce Market called Atrium in the former Brezza Cucina space
Tal Baum, owner of the Italian restaurant and market Ponce City Market Bellina Alimentari, is opening a new full-service restaurant called Atrium this winter in the former Brezza Cucina space on the first floor of the central food hall.
Led in the kitchen by Chef Brandon Hughes, Culinary Director of Oliva Restaurant Group, the Atrium menu will include veg and pasta dishes, crudo and a selection of entrees to share.
Baum again brought in Atlanta-based company Smith Hanes to create the design for Atrium, with the restaurant and menu described as “Modern American with European influence.” The company was responsible for the design of its Aziza and Falafel Nation restaurants in the Westside Provisions district.
Atrium’s design features a tropical motif mixed with floral patterns and large leaves contrasting with pinks, greens and golds throughout the space, as well as a mural by Savannah artist Kipper Millsap and elaborate flower arrangements from Pinker Times. Entering the atrium from the dining room, a seating area will be separated by curtains. In the dining area, expect a long pink bench lined with tables, more seating scattered around the restaurant, and a wraparound central bar.
Baum opened Bellina Alimentari in 2015 inside the then nascent food hall of the Ponce City Market. In 2019, she opened Israeli restaurant Aziza and Falafel Nation falafel stand in the Westside Provisions District, under Ford Fry’s steakhouse Marcel. Then, just two months before the closures related to last year’s pandemic, Baum opened the shipudiya or Israeli-style kebab house Rina in Ford Factory Lofts on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

Last year, the owner of Jamestown Market announced a 500,000 square foot expansion of the property that will eventually include a 400 unit tower and a 100,000 square foot building including offices, retail and new buildings. restaurant stands in the food hall.
Six new food and retail stalls are opening this year in the expanded part of the central food hall, including a stall from Vietnamese restaurant Vietvana and a roast chicken stall called Nani’s Rotisserie Chicken by Chai Pani and chef Botiwalla Meherwan Irani. The expansion adds an additional 5,000 square feet to the first floor of the dining room.
In February, Slutty Vegan Founder Aisha âPinkyâ Cole opened the vegan restaurant and cocktail bar, Bar Vegan on the second floor of the Central Dining Room. Cole teamed up with Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks owner Derrick Hayes to open Dinkie’s inside Bar Vegan, a take-out restaurant serving vegan versions of Big Dave’s cheesesteaks and spring rolls. A location for the trendy Sweetgreen salad and grain bowl chain opened at Ponce City Market in June, next to SoulCycle on the North Avenue side of the resort.
