Dr. Greenburg was born July 15, 1932 in Farrell, Pennsylvania, the son of the late David Joseph and Helen Wayne Greenburg.

His wife of 35 years, Sherry Fischer Greenburg, whom he married on August 30, 1986, survives him and resides where they have made their home in Hermitage. Although they met a little later in life, they were inseparable and she was his true love. They were the embodiment of the idiom “The third time is charm”. This charm carried them together through their medical, athletic and life passions. They could often be seen running together throughout the Shenango Valley. He never stopped telling Sherry how much he loved and appreciated her.

Also remaining are sons, Brian Greenburg (Cindy) of Naples, Florida, Jeff Greenburg (Bobbi) of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, Philip Greenburg of Glendale, Arizona and Bob Greenburg (Kristin) of Hermitage; one daughter, Jennifer Braverman (Brad) of Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren, Johnna Greenburg (fiancé, Shane Parson), Noah Greenburg, Jillian Greenburg, David Greenburg, Jordan Braverman and Maddie Braverman.

In addition to his parents, Morren was predeceased by a daughter, Danielle Greenburg.

Morren was once married to Suzanne Pevzner and Rene Talbot McIntire.

A graduate of Farrell High School in 1950, he also graduated from Youngstown College (Youngstown State University) with a Bachelor of Arts in Premedical Sciences and received his MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1958..

After graduation, Dr. Greenburg completed a one-year residency in family medicine and surgery at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa., Before returning to the Shenango Valley, where he has treated thousands of patients during a 60 year career as a general practitioner. He carried on the tradition of home visits throughout his career. He served as chief of staff at the then Sharon General Hospital and president of the Mercer County Medical Society. He was also a member of the American Academy of Family Practice. He subscribed to the philosophy that laughter was the best medicine and would often say, “If I can’t make them feel better, at least I want to make them laugh.

He has served several school districts, including Farrell, Sharon, and Hermitage, at various points in his career as a team doctor for football, basketball, wrestling, and track and field. He has also been a track and field coach for the University and High School programs at the Hermitage School District. He was just as proud to be called “Coach” as he was to be called “Doctor”.

Other significant contributions to the community included 17 years as Director of the Hermitage School Board, as well as in the Hermitage Municipal Authority, with the Farrell Lions Club and as a board member. Directors of the Mercer County Hall of Fame.

Devout in his faith, Morren was a long-time member of the B’nai Zion congregation in Farrell and later the Beth Israel Temple in Sharon, Pa., Where he was active in the B’nai B men’s group. ‘rith, notably as chairman.

In 2007, Morren was honored with the Buhl Day Honoree in recognition of his life of contributions, service and dedication to the community.

One of Morren’s greatest passions was sports, where he excelled his entire life. He was state-qualified in athletics at Farrell in the 4 × 100, but really hit his stride later in life when his passion for running blossomed. Among the highlights were two gold and two bronze medals at the World Medical Games in Montreal, Canada, where he had the honor of carrying the American flag during the opening ceremonies. He has also achieved All-America status several times over four different decades and won the Pennsylvania Masters Championships in four events and the Masters National Championships in two. He was especially proud to have competed in all events, from 55 meters to marathons, at numerous events, including the Mercer County Senior Games.

Morren was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 1995, the Youngstown Roadrunners Club Hall of Fame in 2000, and the Farrell Alumni Hall of Fame in 2006.

He also cherished art, foreign travel and gastronomy, whether international or local. He had a flair for finding unique restaurants.

Calling hours will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral and Crematorium, 1090 E. State St., Sharon, Pennsylvania. The family asks those present to wear a face. cover and practice social distancing. All are welcome.
