Miami Herald Food Podcast: Cindy Kruse from Cindy Lou’s Cookies
Cindy Kruse doesn’t make cookies that are good for you.
That is, unless you agree that her delicious Miami-based Cindy Lou cookies, which are as big as your head and as fancy as any fancy dessert, are more important than your glucose levels for happiness.
On the March 17 episode of La Ventanita, the Miami Herald’s weekly culinary podcast, we interview Puerto Rican-born Kruse, who has turned her 25 years as a gourmet pastry chef into making desserts designed to please the child in her – and us.
Her cookies have become such a phenomenon that they are now available nationwide, with a new location in Manhattan and more opening soon across the country. And it all started with a small shop she and her life partner, Eric Paige, run in Little River – where she still serves her treats with short hair in pigtails and a smile.
